Free Mesh Jeans at SLink

Not much of a style entry. Just bored, but not bored enough to be creative.

This entry features a free pair of Mesh SLink jeans that comes in different sizes, with a hud to change the color from three shades (I’m wearing the darkest shade). The pair I’m wearing is slim, and yes, I did have to edit my shape to squeeze into it! LOL.

I am wearing a skin from Glam Affair and feet by YS&YS, both of which are L$75 (?) each at The Dressing Room.  The feet comes with a color hud, but it’s not easy to match the color to skintone.  I don’t even think Ive successfully done it….  Who has the time or patience to toggle with the hud like that?  Not me.  LOL.  But seriously, for L$75, it’s a deal, especially if you dislike the system feet.  Also, if you want to spoil yourself, there are more quality sculpty/mesh feet at SLink.  And those are fantastic.

All Meshed Up!

Surely, by now, you’d think I’ve fallen off the face of the earth.  It’s been nearly a year since I’ve updated the blog, and I haven’t logged on SL for just as long….

But I’m back!  And rest assure, I’m very much alive.  Breathing.  Well, I’m breathing, not my avatar.   (Although, I’m sure she inhales…. fashion, too.  LOL.)

Secondlife seems to have changed drastically since my last visit.   And fashion, just as it does in real life, has evolved; currently, meshes are all the rage and are taken over the fashion scene.  “Meshes” is a new feature that secondlife integrated a few months ago to make things more exciting and enticing for current and new users.

I’m just beginning to figure it all out myself.  And from what I’ve gathered so far, meshes are objects that are rigged into our entire avatar….. translation: they move with us and not against us.   For example, mesh hair follows our head and neck movements so hair strands don’t sink into our bodies when we move or fidget.

Neat, right?  I’d say so!!!

Having been back on for just a day now, I hit up all my favorite stores to see how they’ve adapted the new feature into their creations/designs.  Not surprisingly, big time designers (designers who have been designing for years now and are, therefore, more adaptive to the whim of Secondlife updates), have already weaved meshes into their brands.

The great thing about meshes is that most designers include demos; they didn’t do that with regular template clothing….  And these demos are utmost important if you care about fit and how clothing will look on your shape; unlike regular sculpt/prim hair and clothing, you can’t edit meshes to fit your avatar.  So if you’re a control freak like me, you might be a bit disappointed with that.  And if you can’t fit in any of the sizes offered… you can wear an alpha layer that hides the parts of the body peaking out of the clothing.

In my case, I wore an alpha layer to hide my torso so I could squeeze myself into a size small Aoharu mesh dress.  It’s a conservative evening look that I paired with fishnet tights and tall boots.  No accessories!

If you’re wearing a mesh dress or top, please wear a bra!!!  LOL.

Spring Cleaning

I’ve been gone for FAR TOO LONG, you guys.  My last entry was on the 8th of this month and the month (*gasps*) is coming to an end.  Admittedly, I’ve never really been a constant or prolific blogger; I’m a graduate student and I have tons of work to do (have a job, a b/f and a whole lot of other things to juggle).  Sometimes I wonder in awe how other bloggers manage to pull out an entry every single day (nosy me, huh?).  Blah.

Anywhoo, today is the first time I’ve logged into SecondLife long enough to produce an entry.  I’ve been logging on every now and then to bug owners of ViViG to release their products already, but other than that, not so much.  The brand has apparently seen a lot of delays and I still don’t know when they’ll release their dang skins. LOL.

While waiting for that to happen, I’m in the process of cleaning out my inventory; I haven’t cleaned it in a long time. I’ve done some sorting in the past, but I’ve never gone through everything to see if things were worthy of being kept.  I don’t have ALOT of items…  Just a little over the 20k mark (…is that alot?)  But my inventory is still very difficult to sort through.  I need to be careful while cleaning though; I remember one incident in which I tried cleaning and ended up deleting a folder of all my good lingerie (ARGH).

Since I haven’t done some shopping in a while, I thought I’d whip up a beach look with items I’ve found while cleaning; I definitely WON’T be getting rid of those items any time soon.

Like me, you’re probably guilty of buying things that you’ve only worn once or twice and then never bothered to look at/wear again.   Well, I’m here to tell you that YOU CAN wear these items again.  Dig deep in your inventory and revive the items with new styling!

If you’ve been on SecondLife as long as I have, some of these items may look familiar to you and you might even have them. Some of the items featured here have been discontinued or are just unavailable, but I’m sure if you get a hold of some of the designers, they’d help you out.

Me Like It…. Right There

I kept it really cute and simple with a Mashooka dress. It’s really spring-oriented.  You’d also be glad to know that it was free subscribo gift.  :)

I also can’t stop listening to this new release from former Pussycat Doll lead singer Nicole Scherzinger; it’s definitely a spring/summer hit.  The song has already gotten me in the mood for the beach.  Can’t wait!!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!!

Got bored and decided to put together a trendy look.  Not sure why, but I’m a little obsessed with pink lately.  And designers seem to encourage that obsession with their beautiful pinkish offerings (LOL; I said pinkish).

I am sporting several items (the jewelry set and the dress) from the Dressing Room and the Dressing Room Blue.

I am also previewing the new ViViG skin in the porcelain tone. It’s #3 in the Dramatic make-up pack (a pink and purple double wing liner), which I love. I’m also wearing a free purple eyeliner tattoo later from Miamai to accentuate the eyes further.

The designers of ViviG made a few changes to their skins after my last entry about their product. And I guess the change is for the better because they didn’t like how the skin photographed. The brows are a lot more thinner and neater. And the lips are more plump.  The face isn’t heavily shaded because, as I was told, there are several blush, contour and bronzer tattoo layers to play around with; I haven’t gotten those layers from any of the ViViG designers yet, but I’m a bit anxious to.

I am also wearing the shape that I designed for the skin; the shape has a cute face with doll eyes and a body that doesn’t have too much curves. The breasts are pretty ample, despite shape adjustments, so I think they intended the breasts to be that way.

The official launch of ViViG will be next month, so I still have time to modify the shape.

If you are as excited about their launch as I am, you can join their update group inworld called “ViViG – Update Group” for future release information.  They will charge for group membership in the future, so it’s good to join now than later.

Easter!

Hidden in 20 eggs, various items are up for grabs in the R.icielli Easter Hunt. The hunt is NOT free. Each egg costs L$15, so if you decide to hunt all the items, it’ll run you up L$300, which isn’t too bad.

The eggs are scattered throughout the mainstore and are super easy to find. I was only interested in 3 items, so I got those. :D

I’m working the Ricielli pieces with my super cute hair that’s been newly released from one of my favorite places for hair (Sixty-nine). The hair is braided with a scarf that has several scripted textures; I’m wearing the pink one. It’s a fantastic hair style for spring/summer. Oh, I love it so. LOL.

I really like the floral top from Tres blah for the Spring Seasons Hunt; so I decided to toss that on too. :)

I’m also wearing a preview skin from a new skin brand called ViViG. I will be creating shapes for the brand, as I stated in a past blog entry. And I will also be one of the few bloggers to exclusively blog their future releases; and they have many in the works. Skins. Lingerie. Clothing. Accessories. Hair. (Yay! It’s nice to have good connections.)

The new skin is called Vivi, which of course is named after their brand, and it comes with so many make-up choices, that it will knock your socks off. There are seven tones and each skin comes with dark and blonde brows and hairbases.

I’m wearing the Honey tone with dark brows and nude make-up. The brows are pretty thick and messy, but I think they add a lot of characteristic to the face, which I love. A lot of skins from other brands seem to have perfectly combed brows; sometimes, it’s nice to see something different. The skin, with all its make-up choices, is also extremely high-fashion oriented, which is why I’m so excited for them.

I was told by the creators that the skins took about a year to perfect, which really shows in the body details. They also have many other skins in the work that they will gradually release (I can’t wait to see those).

I’d love to show the skin in its entirety, with all the make-up choices, etc., but I was told to do that near their release date, which is scheduled for next month, or so.  Plus, the body is really graphic. If I stripped, I’d really feel naked. LOL.

Seasons Hunt – Spring 2011

The Seasons Hunt Series is still going strong, now with the Spring 2011 addition in full effect.  The hunt runs from the 16th until the end of April.

Well over 50 stores are participating; and as always, a full list of all the stores and their SURLS can be found on the Hunt’s Official Blog. (The list is along the right side-bar.)

There is no starting point in the Seasons Hunt, so you can hop around and discriminate between stores in search for the busy bumble bee. (Men can also participate in this hunt, as one of the hunt prizes is an unreleased addition of the Andrew skin from Sacred.)

Be sure to catch a glimpse of all or some of the hunt items in the event’s official flickr pool.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Spring Sales

Fashion giant Fri.day has a sale running from now until Sunday, the 17th of April. All merchandises, including clothing and hair, are marked down 50% off. Fri.day is a supplier of what some may describe as American female casual wear.

Fresh Fx, a skin line developed by London Daily of The House of London, also has a spring sale.  The 60% off sale runs until Saturday, the 16th of April.  Fresh Fx skins are also available on the MarketPlace.  While I am not an enormous fan of Fresh Fx, I do love the eye-shadow choices.  The skin packs (a pack of eight) are more expensive than other respectable brands, so keep that in mind when trying on the demos.

Kyoot L$50 or Less Spring Sale!

What the Kyoot?

LOL.  I love the simplicity of Kyoot clothing.  So since there’s a L$50 or less annual Spring sale going on now (running from the 7th to the 10th of April) at the store, I’m going to have to try my best not to go too cray cray.

I bought a couple of items, but wanted to show this one.

The dress I’m wearing from the sale is pretty basic; it’s a long flowy dress that’s extremely casual chic.  It looks super comfortable for spring/summer. The dress also comes with a nice little head band.

Seriously, I’d wear something like that right now in RL if it weren’t so cold here in the east coast.  I can even see this dress worn for a summer wedding at the beach (just an idea).

The pumps and the bag are not new items; probably made years ago.  But they’re just as high of a quality as the items pushed out today.  Croc pumps…. when is that ever out of fashion?  Gorgeous.  It’s good to invest in pieces that’ll last you a long time and that you can polish out and wear again.

(FYI, I post-edited the skin tone in photoshop because I wasn’t too much of a fan of the orangey tone.)

March Over, Spring Forward!

March is over.  Spring is here.  Well, in the States, that is.

As always, I’ve been flipping through all my real life fashion magazine subscriptions to identify the season’s trends.  It’s not that I rely heavily on fashion authorities’ interpretation of seasonal trends to help me get dressed in the morning; I just like to be on top of things and know what’s in and what’s out of fashion.  Frankly, I just love fashion.  Hence, why I keep coming back to blog, despite long periods of absence.  (Anyways, I’m digressing….)

My favorite trends this season are white and neutrals.  A pop of color with accessories goes a long way in accentuating the classic look.  I also like the blue and turquoise color trend this season, but I haven’t quite found the right outfits in SL to interpret the look.  I will, eventually.  There are a whole lot of other trends that I want to cover, but for now I’m going to take on white and neutrals….  And take it on with a low budget.

I am wearing a free group gift from the Baiastice update group.  The color of the dress looks a bit washed out, but I think it fits well this season.  The pop of color comes from the pumps.

I added a bit sophistication with the white lace tights I got from the current Dressing Room Blue event.

You can also wear the top without the skirt layer.  It’d look great with your favorite pair of jeans.

To accentuate the look further, I’m wearing a free skin I got from a previous hunt.  The skin has beautiful colorful eyeshadow that, again, gives a pop of bright hues to the white/neutral look.

The long black locks (L$50, by the way) are from the Project FUR Japan Charity event. Countless designers are participating in the event to benefit the Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support (JEARS) organization; 100% of the proceeds will go directly to JEARS. Animals, abandoned and lost in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami need our help too. You can read more about the cause and get updates from the Project FUR Japan’s official blog.

The event started on the 2nd of April; there’s no word on when it ends, but the blog did indicate that the sim (upon which the event is hosted) is being rented for a month.

Also, as I’m writing this, I learned that another earthquake has hit Japan. So please continue to keep the people of Japan and the animals in your thoughts and prayers.
